Villagers protest against exhumation of Anish Khan's body, police return with empty hands

The special investigation team (SIT) probing Anish Khan’s death was stopped from completing the exhumation and second autopsy of the victim's body.

The Calcutta High Court admitted an appeal from the SIT for the second autopsy of Anish Khan's body.
In the Saturday wee hours, the police team reached Amata in Anish Khan's village. Villagers protested and that led to the police returning with empty hands. According to the sources, police went there to conduct the exhumation procedures in the presence of his family. Meanwhile, the relatives of Anish Khan's family claimed they had asked the police to come on Monday for the exhumation of the body. But they came on Saturday. That is why the villagers protested.

Primarily, it was decided that before the actual process of exhumation, the area where the body of the 28-year-old former student of Aliah University was buried in Howrah’s Amta, would be cordoned off and senior police officers would be posted to ensure there were no law and order issues.
Local administration, in the presence of the BDO, went to the village. But villagers stopped them with heavy protests.
