Vikram Vedha, starring Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan, needs to collect at least Rs 7 crore on its fourth day to have a good first Monday. Here’s a look at how films such as Samrat Prithviraj and Laal Singh Chaddha fared on their first Monday.
Vikram Vedha opened in cinemas on Friday, September 30, receiving a positive response from most critics. This, however, did not help it make the desired impact at the box office as it collected merely Rs 10 crore on its first day. The Saif Ali Khan and Hrithik Roshan-led actioner witnessed decent growth on Saturday and Sunday. Its first-weekend collection stands at Rs 38 crore.
The trade consensus is that it could have done better given the fact that it was shot on a budget of Rs 175 crore. Vikram Vedha needs to put respectable numbers on its first Monday, October 3, to emerge as a success in the long run.
“I would say it needs to do at least Rs 7 crore, which is nearly 50 per cent lower than its Sunday figure, to pass the Monday test," trade analyst Joginder Tuteja told IndiaToday,in
Meanwhile, here is a look at how some recently released biggies fared on their first Monday.
The actioner earned Rs 14.5 crore on its first Sunday after collecting an ordinary Rs 10 crore on the opening day. It will need to do at least 7 crore on Monday, October 3, to have chances of emerging as a success in the long run. The film is a remake of the Tamil blockbuster of the same name.
Brahmastra, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, collected Rs 43.25 crore on its first Sunday and helped Bollywood bounce back after a series of flops. Ayan Mukerji’s magnum opus went on to collect Rs 16 crore on its first Monday, exceeding expectations. This figure was higher than the opening day collection of films such as Bachchhan Paandey (Rs 13.25 crore) and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (Rs 14.11 crore).
Sahamshera ended up being one of the biggest flops of Ranbir Kapoor’s career. The action drama earned a disappointing Rs 10.25 on the opening day. It stayed flat during its first weekend and collected merely Rs 11 crore on its first Sunday. The biggie crashed on its fourth day due to mediocre word of mouth. It collected a paltry Rs 2.80 crore on its first Monday. Shamshera was directed by Karan Malhotra, who previously wielded the microphone for Brothers and Agneepath.
