Vijay Deverakonda is gearing up to make his Bollywood debut with the Telugu-Hindi bilingual Liger, slated to open in theatres on August 25. The biggie has garnered a fair deal of attention because it features the young star in an intense new avatar. Now, here is some more exciting news for VD's ardent fans. Vijay has revealed that the pan-India movie is likely to have a sequel. Liger is a sports drama, written and directed by Puri Jagannadh.
Vijay Deverakonda, last seen in the uncommercially unsuccessful World Famous Lover (2020), is set to return to our screens with Liger. The flick has become a rage among youngsters as it features massy dialogues such as 'waat laga denge' and 'I am a fighter'. Ahead of its release, Vijay indirectly confirmed that Liger 2 is on the cards. Speaking to BollywoodLife, the heartthrob said that Liger is likely to get a sequel.
"There will be, most probably. Yeah," he added.
Vijay, however, refused to reveal any details about the proposed sequel's plot.
Liger is a sports drama that features Vijay Deverakonda in the role of a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter with a speech issue. Ananya Panday, who was last seen in the Deepika Padukone-led romantic drama Gehraiyaan, will make her Tollywood debut with the film. Liger also features Ramya Krishnan, Ronit Roy, and Makrand Deshpande, among others, in crucial roles. Iconic boxer Mike Tyson will be seen in a cameo appearance in the movie. Liger is slated to hit the screens on August 25.
Vijay Deverakonda, meanwhile, is going through an exciting phase on the work front. The Arjun Reddy actor will be seen alongside Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the romantic comedy Khushi, slated to release in cinemas on December 23. This will be his second film with the star after the Keerthy Suresh-led Mahanati (2018). He also has Jana Gana Mana (JGM) in his kitty.
