Did a naked man fall to death while trying to escape from Buckingham Palace?
Following the death of Elizabeth II, The United Kingdom’s longest-serving monarch, a video of a naked man climbing down the walls of the London royal residence using a bedsheet has been making the rounds online. However, according to those sharing it, the video is from an old incident where a man fell to death in his attempt to escape from the palace.
A search led us to a Daily Mail report from February 2015 that called this video a hoax. The report said that the Metropolitan Police did not receive any reports of a naked man dangling from a Buckingham Palace window. Likewise, the London Ambulance Service reportedly did not receive any calls to treat a naked man suffering from injuries sustained from a fall from a rope made of bed sheets.
As the video went viral, several websites debunked the video. The clip was a promotional video for E! Entertainment’s TV series, “The Royals”. The show that ran from 2015 to 2018 was about a fictional modern-day British royal family. In a report, E! Online also clarified that the video shows a man getting out of Princess Eleanor's (a fictional character from the show played by Alexandra Park) chambers.
