Venom and Ghostbusters: Afterlife sequels in the works, Sony Pictures announces

After the success of Venom and Ghostbusters franchises, Sony Pictures announced their sequels at CinemaCon 2022. The studio also revealed that new instalments are on the way.
Get ready for some more action and thrill as Sony Pictures announced Venom and Ghostbusters: Afterlife sequels. This came after the back-to-back box office successes of both instalments. While Sony revealed that new instalments were on the way, it did not share any further details about either movie.
Sony Pictures officially announced Venom 3 and Ghostbusters: Afterlife sequel at CinemaCon at The Colosseum in Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. The studio unveiled the sequels through a sizzle reel, according to Variety. It included Sony's Whitney Houston biopic, I Wanna Dance With Somebody, the Venom spin-off Kraven the Hunter, The Equalizer 3 and never-before-seen clips from Tom Hanks’ A Man Called Otto.
2018’s Venom featured Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock. He played the role of a failed journalist, who bonds with an alien symbiote that tries to protect Earth. The film had an impressive earning both at the domestic and worldwide box office. The 2021 Venom sequel - Venom: Let There Be Carnage, starred Woody Harrelson in the role of Cletus Kasady aka Carnage. While the film performed well at the domestic box office, it suffered on the foreign front.
When it comes to Ghostbusters: Afterlife, the supernatural comedy film definitely put a new spin on the Ghostbusters franchise by connecting characters from the original movie. Along with the new cast, including Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, McKenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, Logan Kim, the film also starred original Ghostbusters stars - Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts and Sigourney Weaver.
Venom: Let There Be Carnage is directed by Andy Serkis. Whereas, Ghostbusters: Afterlife is helmed by Jason Reitman.
