The film witnessed a slight growth at the box office on Sunday, September 18. The film collected approximately Rs 6 crore in India on Sunday. Trade reports suggest that the film's 4th day collection is higher than the previous three days, which is a great sign.
Simbu and Gautham Menon's Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu hit the theatres on September 15. The Telugu version of the film, titled The Life of Muthu, was delayed by two days due to technical issues.
Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu is performing exceptionally well at the box office. Reportedly, the film collected Rs 6 crore on Sunday, September 18. This is slightly higher than what the film earned on Saturday, September 17. At this rate, Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu will end up as a profitable venture.
Trade analyst Ramesh Bala wrote, "#VTK is off to a good start at the #Karnataka Box office. 3 days Gross - Rs 1.30 Crs. Will be a profitable venture for @KRG_Studios (sic)."

Directed by Gautham Menon, the film's story is written by B Jeyamohan. Silambarasan and Siddhi Idnani played lead roles in this gangster-origin film. Produced by Ishari Ganesh, Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu has music by AR Rahman, cinematography by Siddhartha Nuni and editing by Anthony. The film will have a sequel, which is yet to go on floors.
