SNDP Yogam criticizes NCP-SP in Kerala, calls giving Kuttanad seat to party a mistake, mocks ministerial aspirations of MLA.
In a scathing attack on the Nationalist Congress Party-Sharadchandra Pawar (NCP-SP), Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan has said that giving the Kuttanad Assembly constituency seat to the party by the Left Democratic Front (LDF) in Kerala was “an unforgivable mistake.”
In an editorial in Yoganadam, the mouthpiece of SNDP Yogam, Mr. Natesan said the NCP-SP had become a party without supporters both in Kerala and Maharashtra. The party Kerala unit is plagued with infighting, he said.
Mr. Natesan mocked the efforts of Kuttanad MLA Thomas K. Thomas and party leader P.C. Chacko to secure a ministerial post for the former. “They have become a laughing stock,” he said.
The SNDP Yogam general secretary said the LDF was not obliged to fulfil the ministerial aspirations of Mr. Thomas, a wealthy individual with no political legacy. Mr. Thomas considers the Kuttanad constituency as his family property. He won the seat due to people’s love for the LDF, Mr. Natesan said.
He, however, said that senior NCP-SP leader and Kerala Forest Minister A.K. Saseendran was a leader with public support.
When contacted Mr. Thomas’ office said that he would not be responding to Mr. Natesan immediately. “Let the party leadership and the LDF respond to the article,” said a person close to the Kuttanad MLA.
