India Today
In a recent media interaction, Varun Dhawan was asked about Hindi movies that turned out to be flops at the box office. To which, the actor said South movies have flopped as well.
The North vs South debate, which sparked after the success of 3 South movies, refuses to die down. KGF: Chapter 2, RRR and Pushpa proved to be monstrous hits at the box office, while a couple of Bollywood movies bombed at BO. Speaking of which, Varun Dhawan recently shared his thoughts on this ongoing debate. During a recent media interaction, the actor was asked about three South films that overpowered Hindi movies.
In the same interaction, Varun was also asked regarding a few Bollywood movies that turned out to be major flops at the box office. Commenting on it, the actor stated that approximately 8 South movies also didn't work well at the box office either.
Sharing his thoughts on the North vs South debate, Varun said, "Cinema is doing well right now. The audience has the right to watch the cinema they want to watch. Hollywood films have been working for so many years. It is because they are liking it and, therefore, they are watching it. I myself enjoyed watching KGF 2. I had a great time watching it. It is one of the biggest grossers right now."
When the actor was asked about Hindi movies that flopped in the recent past, Varun added, "7-8 major flops have happened in their cinema also. That has also happened because nothing was released in the last 2 and a half years. I feel a good film will come. In the Hindi film industry, we have a lot of good films coming up. Every film can't be a hit. The audience won't watch a bad film, whether it is English, Hindi or a South film. They will not watch."
Meanwhile, Varun is busy promoting his upcoming film, Jugjugg Jeeyo. The actor will be seen alongside Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor. Directed by Raj Mehta, the movie is scheduled to release on June 24, 2022. Post that, the actor has Bhediya with Kriti Sanon and Bawaal with Janhvi Kapoor lined up.
