The Vancouver Canucks and Edmonton Oilers will face off at Rogers Arena Wednesday night for Game 1 of the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The two Canadian teams are looking to punch their ticket to the Western Conference final as fans on both sides of the border eagerly await one another.
Unlike other NHL cities, the Canucks have not had a public outdoor viewing party in Vancouver, but that could soon change.
Mayor Ken Sim is expected to make an announcement at 7:45 a.m. at city hall to address the potential for a public viewing party.
The city’s plan has yet to be released, but on Monday, city hall issued a statement saying it hoped "to have more to share in the coming week" about a place for the community to come together to watch games.
"It's been super exciting watching our home team battle through Round 1 and the fans have been amazing at keeping the energy going,” Sim said in the statement.
"Having the playoffs in Vancouver is important on so many levels and we are so proud of everyone putting in the effort to make this a fun, family-friendly experience for everyone. Let's keep it up!"
