The PWD wrote to Punjab Vidhan Sabha Secretary about items worth lakhs missing from government residences allocated to former ministers Manpreet Singh Badal and Gurpreet Singh Kangar after they vacated their houses.
The public works department (PWD) has sent a letter to the Punjab Vidhan Sabha secretary following complaints of valuables worth several lakhs of rupees missing after two former Punjab cabinet ministers vacated their official residences.
These ministers include the then Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal and Revenue Minister Gurpreet Singh Kangar, who recently vacated government houses.
The PWD has requested the secretary of Punjab Vidhan Sabha to recover the items from the ministers to issue them 'no dues certificates'.
In a letter dated March 10, the PWD executive engineer wrote to the secretary of Punjab Vidhan Sabha that items, including two refrigerators worth Rs 65,530 and Rs 44,000, five LED TVs worth Rs 2,98,100, four oil-filled radiators worth Rs 56,680, six heat convectors worth Rs 13,110, a room heater worth Rs 835 and five pedestal fans worth Rs 8,000, were missing from the house allocated to former minister Gurpreet Singh.
In another letter sent to the secretary on March 24, a dining table, ten dining chairs, one service trolley and a recliner sofa have been reported missing from the house allotted to the then finance minister, Manpreet Singh Badal.
The administration is tight-lipped about the missing items and has no clue whether these items were inadvertently or knowingly taken away by the ministers.
Manpreet Singh Badal was not available for comment. However, Gurpreet Singh Kangar refused the allegations saying that he was yet to vacate the house and the keys to the house were still with him. He said that all items would be handed over to the department concerned soon.
