
Vaccine passports may save Europe's summer, but only for the lucky ones

The European Union has revealed its plans to introduce a vaccination certificate that will allow travel across its borders, but amid a faltering inoculation program there are fears that it could create a two-track system that lets a favored few trot the continent while others remain stuck at home.
(CNN) — The door to summer is slowly creaking open in Europe, and for those who want to stroll through it to take a vacation amid ongoing Covid restrictions, the key may soon be at hand. While borders are likely to remain closed in coming weeks, the European Union is proposing to roll out a Digital Green Certificate, or vaccine passport that will allow those with the required armfuls of approved anti-Covid pharmaceuticals or antibodies from having had the virus, to travel freely. Negative tests could also be used to qualify.
Foreign adversaries including Russia and China have recently directed their intelligence services to ramp up recruiting of US federal employees working in national security, targeting those who have been fired or feel they could be soon, according to four people familiar with recent US intelligence on the issue.
