Cabinet Minister and State government spokesperson Subodh Uniyal said the matter is being probed and appropriate legal action will be taken against those responsible for the negligence. Sixty-five COVID-19 patients died at Baba Barfani Hospital between April 25 and May 12 but the facility hid the figure from the State COVID Control Room here, officials said. When the hospital management was threatened with action it disclosed the truth, State COVID Control Room officials said.
Under the NBS, newborns are screened for communication disorders before they are discharged from the hospital. For this, AIISH has collaborated with several hospitals to conduct screening which is performed to detect hearing impairment and other developmental disabilities that can affect speech and language development. The screening has been helping in early intervention for those identified with the disorders, as any delay in the identification poses risk and affects successful management of children with hearing loss, according to AIISH.
