Uttar Pradesh won't be bifurcated into three parts: UP govt, Centre refute viral claims
India Today
Claims on social media that the Centre is considering a bifurcation of Uttar Pradesh ahead of the assembly polls due for next year are baseless, said the central and UP governments.
Social media posts with the claim that the state of Uttar Pradesh may be bifurcarted into three parts are being widely circulated on social media. The posts suggest that the central government is planning to carve out three states out of the existing state of UP ahead of the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls. This would result in the creation of Purvanchal as a separate state, the viral social media posts claim. Purvanchal is used to refer to the eastern part of Uttar Pradesh that borders the state of Bihar. The viral claims also suggest that this purported state of Purvanchal will have 23 districts, while the states of Bundelkhand and UP will have 17 and 20 districts, respectively.More Related News
