The lunch break for employees of the Uttar Pradesh government offices was curtailed to half an hour on Monday.
UP Chief Secretary, Durga Shankar Mishra, has issued an order regarding lunchtime. As per the order, lunch timings will be from 1 pm till 1.30 pm.
Now, those going to the government offices to get their work done will not have to wait for long.
The decision came after Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath received complaints about officials and employees taking long lunch breaks, which was affecting work in offices.
The order read, “While implementing a 5-day working week in the Uttar Pradesh Secretariat, the working time has been fixed from 9:30 am to 6 pm and lunchtime from 1 pm to 1:30 pm. Such an arrangement will also be made for the Head of Department offices.”
Along with this, officers and HODs should also ensure the attendance of the employees by conducting surprise inspections from time to time.
