The United States has thanked Qatar for its continued assistance with diplomacy regarding Afghanistan. This came in a phone call held between HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Wednesday.

During the call, they reviewed the close bilateral relations between Qatar and the United States, and ways to develop them in various fields, Qatar News Agency reported. The phone call also touched on the latest developments in the Afghan file, in both its security and political aspects, in addition to the nuclear talks and the developments in the regional and international arena.
In a related tweet, Blinken said: “Spoke with Qatar’s Minister of Foreign Affairs about the crisis Moscow has precipitated and the urgent need for Russia to deescalate tensions. I also thanked Qatar for continued assistance with Afghanistan diplomacy.”
Natalie A Baker, US embassy charge d’affaires in Qatar, also tweeted saying: “Thank you to Qatar for your partnership and support!”
