A video of a father and son duo saving a 4-year-old boy with autism from drowning has gone viral on social media. Little Xavier Rigney got out of his mother’s sight for a brief moment and made his way through a locked fence before he jumped into the pool. When Maddox Westerhouse, 12, saw Xavier drowning, he ran to get his dad, Tom, from their nearby apartment. The entire episode was captured on the CCTV camera. Tom and Maddox’s timely intervention helped save the life of the boy. The video was shared by Goodnews Movement on their Instagram handle on Tuesday. It already has over 2 million views.
The video shows how Xavier took a plunge in the pool and there was no one to be seen near him who could come to his help. Luckily, Maddox, who witnessed this, frantically ran to fetch his father from their apartment complex. Tom managed to jump over the locked fence and saved the child. The father administered CPR after pulling the unresponsive toddler from the pool.
“A 4-year-old boy in Kansas had a close call after jumping into a pool May 18 without being able to swim. Luckily a quick-thinking 12-year-old from his apartment complex resident noticed the child was in danger and told his father, who jumped over the locked fence to help. The 4-year-old had reportedly managed to get through the fence of the locked pool. The father administered life-saving aid after pulling the unresponsive toddler from the pool, the Lawrence Police Department said in a news release. to the heroes!!” the video caption reads.
