UP Poll | Ditched parivarvad, not parivar, says BJP leader Aparna Yadav
India Today
Speaking to India Today TV, BJP leader Aparna Yadav said that she ditched parivarvad when she left Samajwadi Party but she is still a part of the Yadav family.
Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav's daughter-in-law Aparna Yadav, who recently joined the Bharatiya Janata Party, on Friday said that she ditched 'parivarvad' and not 'parivar'.
"I have left the party but not the family... I am a part of the [Yadav] family and will always be a part of it. But I am also a member of BJP and will remain so in the future as well," Aparna Yadav said.
She added, "Neither can I do the politics of parivarvad nor can I support such an ideology. For me, nation and nationalism come first."
Speaking to India Today TV, Aparna Yadav said that Mulayam Singh Yadav gave her blessings when she decided to quit the Samajwadi Party and join the BJP in January.
"He asked if I would be happy in the BJP. "If you would be, then you have my blessings". Mulayam Singh Yadav never stops anyone. He gave me his blessings," she said.
Aparna Yadav contested her first election in the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls. She contested on an SP ticket from Lucknow Cantonment constituency. She lost to BJP candidate Rita Bahuguna Joshi by a margin of 33,796 votes.
Reports say Aparna Yadav was inclined to contest the 2022 Uttar Pradesh election from the Lucknow Cantonment seat. Akhilesh Yadav was apparently not inclined to field a family member in the Uttar Pradesh election, which forced Aparna Yadav to make a move to cross over to the BJP.
