The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s Awadh region president Shesh Narayan Mishra passed away on Friday morning after a prolonged illness at the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Lucknow. The BJP leader, who was on a ventilator, died of a heart attack. A key figure in the central UP region, Shesh Narayan Mishra was an active BJP functionary for the past 25 years.
He was admitted to SGPGI when his haemoglobin level dropped low and his health deteriorated and he had also tested positive for Covid-19. He tested negative for the infection two days back but passed away as there was no improvement in his health. UP deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak had visited him to enquire about his health.

The mortal remains of the BJP leader were brought to the party headquarters where party functionaries, including state president and cabinet minister Swatantra Dev Singh pay their tributes. Shesh Narayan Mishra will be cremated in his native district of Gonda in the afternoon.
UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath condoled the death of the senior party leader.
