UP becomes first state to link maximum rations cards with Aadhar cards: State govt

Uttar Pradesh has become the first state to link almost 100 per cent ration cards with Aadhar cards to stop irregularities in food distribution, claimed the state government.
The Uttar Pradesh government has claimed that UP has become the first state to link almost 100 per cent (99.79 per cent) ration cards with Aadhar cards.In the last six months alone, 1,61, 256 new ration cards have been made under the National Food Security Act (NFSA), taking the total number of ration card holders in the state to 3,60,12,758, according to the government.
The linking has allegedly stopped irregularities in the distribution of food grains, so that only those entitled received the supply. Besides, there has also been an introduction of an e-pass (Point of Sale) machine, that is aimed at curbing corruption on the part of ration dealers, according to the government.ALSO READ: CM Yogi Adityanath announces ‘UP Mathrubhumi Yojana'
