The Uttar Pradesh government has put the Sharda scheme in motion wherein dropout children will be identified and readmitted to school
The search for children who dropped out of primary and junior schools in Uttar Pradesh has begun and one teacher from each school has been appointed for this task.
These teachers are collecting the details of the children who do not come to school. On the re-admission of dropout children, the government will give schools Rs 860 per child for their studies.
On the instructions of the Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA), the teachers are making a list of the children who have dropped out after checking the documents of the children registered in the school.
Teachers are going door to door to convince parents to send these children back to school by raising their awareness on the importance of schooling and to reduce the number of dropout children.
Children who do not attend school for 40 or more days fall under the category of dropout students. Apart from this, the children who have left their studies due to some reason also fall in this category.
All the BSAs of the state have been ordered to give the details of the dropout children to the Basic Education Department by August 31.
Importantly, there are 1619 council schools in the rural as well as urban areas of the state. Of these, there are 1148 primary, 268 junior and 203 composite schools. Two lakh eight thousand children are registered in this Sharda Yojana which will work to get these children back to school.
