Unlock India: Some states ease curbs as Covid cases decline, others keep restrictions in place

The second Covid wave has mostly subsided in northern and western parts of the country. However, the situation remains tenuous in the southern and eastern states.

With the second Covid-19 wave subsiding, most of the northern and western states have decided to cautiously lift lockdown restrictions. Earlier on Saturday, Delhi further relaxed some curbs, while Maharashtra detailed a five-tier plan to unlock. However, southern and eastern parts of the country are still reporting a high number of cases, resulting in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka extending lockdown by another week.
