While speaking with mediapersons in Patna, the Union Minister, in response to a question on the prohibition law, said the sale of liquor was rampant in the state and nobody could deny this fact.
"Who said that liquor is not available in Bihar? It is easily available in the state," he said.
Paras said liquor was being smuggled into the state and that is why huge consignments of liquor is seized on a routine basis. Further, he said the availability of liquor illegally in the state was the reason why people who consumed liquor were being arrested.
However, he added that the police were cracking down on the liquor mafia which is manufacturing and selling adulterated liquor.
"Nobody can say that liquor is not available in the state. Illegally liquor was available in the state and that is the reason why so many people were being arrested on a routine basis. The police were also seizing liquor consignments which is smuggled into the state," he said.
Paras added that he was aware that the prohibition law was in the interest of the state, but despite that liquor was being sold in the state illegally.
