Union Minister for Civil Aviation K. Rammohan Naidu on Saturday said that drone technology would usher in a revolution in agriculture and other sectors.
The recently launched Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, which aims to encourage the manufacturing of drones and their components, would help increase the use of drones significantly.
Along with MSME and NRI Affairs Minister Kondapalli Srinivas, Mr. Rammohan Naidu inaugurated a drone manufacturing unit at the Centurion University of Technology and Management (CUTM) in Vizianagaram.
“Optimum use of drones in the agriculture sector will help minimise expenditure on labour and ensure controlled use of pesticides,” the Union Minister said.
Mr. Rammohan Naidu said that students trained in drone technology have a wider scope for jobs. “The recently launched drone policy of the Union government will help the North Andhra region become a hub of drone manufacturing units,” he said.
Earlier, university Vice-President D.N. Rao explained to the Ministers the other initiatives undertaken by the university, including organic farming, electric rickshaws, and short-distance plane manufacturing.

When reporters brought to her notice the claim by villagers that the late maharaja of Mysore Sri Jayachamaraja Wadiyar had gifted the land to them, Pramoda Devi Wadiyar said she is not aware of the matter, but sought to assure people that no effort will be made to take back the land that had been gifted by the late maharaja.
