However, one individual thought that terming Bappi Lahiri as the Disco King was unfair. India Today spoke to singer and former Union minister Babul Supriyo, who stated that Lahiri had many accomplishments that cannot be summed up by the epithet of Disco King.
"It is unfair to call him just Disco King. He is way more than that," said Babul Supriyo, who narrated how the first ever singing session in his professional life was at Bappi Da's house when he was a struggling vocalist.
"Electronic Dance Music or EDM was brought to India by Bappi Da with Disco Dancer. He launched an album named Super Luna with Runa Laila, which was a superb example of what he could create. Moreover, Tamma Tamma was the height of EDM in those days, the song introduced us to the concept of stereo sound," the former union minister told India Today.
