Russia-Ukraine War News Updates: For the first time since Adolf Hitler initiated World War II, the Ukrainian cities of Kharkiv and Kyiv are being bombed. Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24 and has been launching strikes across the country ever since.
Loud explosions and air raid sirens have come to dominate the soundscape in Ukraine’s biggest cities Kyiv and Kharkiv since Russia declared war on its neighbouring nation on February 24.
On Tuesday, the government headquarters in Kharkiv suffered significant damage after a missile struck the building. Shelling in the city on Monday killed 17 people, the governor claimed.
In Kyiv, loud explosions have been heard. Satellite images show several homes and buildings burning nearby as a 40-mile Russian convoy makes its way to the city.

The last time Kyiv and Kharkiv were rocked by bombs and under major attack was in the mid-20th century when Adolf Hitler initiated World War II in Europe.
The explosions in Kyiv and Kharkiv rake up memories of Nazi Germany’s assault on the cities in 1941.
In September 1941, German forces entered Kyiv and massacred more than 30,000 Jews in two days, as per reports. In the following months, several thousand more people were killed by German authorities stationed in Kyiv.
