UEFA opens disciplinary proceedings against Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus over breakaway Super League
India Today
UEFA has formally begun disciplinary proceedings against Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus -- the 3 European clubs who have clung on to the breakaway Super League project after 9 of its founding members ditched the idea following severe backlash from fans.
European giants Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus could face bans as UEFA has begun disciplinary proceedings against the three clubs, the active breakaway Super League rebels. Proceedings are now active for "a potential violation of UEFA's legal framework," UEFA has said. UEFA's statutes include a section on "prohibited groupings" of clubs or leagues forming without UEFA's permission or outside its control. Notably, Real, Barcelona and Juventus are the only 3 sides hanging on to the Super League project after 9 of the initial 12 founding members renounced it following severe backlash from fans and the rest of the football community.More Related News
