Paryaya Puttige Mutt urges against pre-wedding shoots near Udupi's Krishna Mutt and Ashta Mutts for sanctity.
The Paryaya Puttige Mutt has urged people not to indulge in activities like pre-wedding shoots around the Krishna Mutt and Ashta Mutts on Car Street to maintain the sanctity of the place on Thursday, April 10 in Udupi.
In a video statement, Gopalacharya, a representative of Puttige Mutt, said the Car Street has its own sanctity where people follow certain norms. Devotees lay special significance for car street as this the place where the seers of Ashta Mutts and other spiritual heads regularly move and where Ustavas, Rathotsavas and bhajans are held every day.
On this sacred place, pre-wedding shoots of couples with indecent behaviour are being captured. Puttige Mutt seer Sri Sugunendra Tirtha swami has urged people not to do pre-wedding shoots in front of Krisha Mutt and other mutts and also near the temple chariots, he said.
Puttige Mutt Secretary Prasannacharya said the Paryaya Mutt as well as other Mutts had received many complaints from devotees about the nuisance being caused by people indulging in pre-wedding shoots that also had a bearing on the sanctity of the place. Hence the Seer desired such activities should not be undertaken on Car Street.
In a statement here, Mr. Prasannacharya said pre-wedding shoots are done even inside the Mutt and off late in front of seers thereby prompting the management to take the stern decision.
Besides the Krishna Mutt whose administration is done on rotation basis for two years by the seers of eight Mutts, the Car Street is home to these eight Mutts--Admar, Pejawar, Palimar, Krishnapura, Shirur, Sode, Kaniyur and Puttige Mutts. It also houses Bhandarakeri Mutt, Raghavendraswmay Temple, Kanaka Gopura and Anantheshwara and Chandramouleeshwara Temples.
