Udupi hijab row: Meeting held, students still barred from attending classes

The school administration held a meeting with protesting students and their parents and informed them that students would not be allowed to enter classrooms with hijabs until the government committee submits its report on the subject.
A meeting was held by school authorities with children and their parents to discuss the issue of wearing hijab inside classrooms. It was informed that students will not be allowed to attend classes with hijabs till the government committee submits its report.
As many as six students were barred from wearing hijab inside classrooms as it was against the uniform policies of the school.
The school officials informed parents that children can wear a hijab while entering the premises, but inside the classroom, they will have to remove it.
The Karnataka government has set up an expert committee to resolve the issue. Until the committee recommendation comes, all girls have been asked to adhere to uniform rules.

Besides, authorities have decided to bar the media and other organisations inside the campus because other students and their families reportedly complained about media presence on the campus.
The authorities also informed the children not to come to college to raise the issue again and protest against the decisions of the management. The girls have been asked to attend online classes till the issue is resolved.
