As investigators probe link between the Udaipur murder accused and a Pakistan-based extremist group, Rajasthan DGP ML Lather said that one of the accused had gone to Dawat-e-Islami in Karachi in 2014.
A day after the brutal murder of the tailor in Udaipur, Rajasthan DGP ML Lather said that one of the two accused in Udaipur murder case had gone to Dawat-e-Islami in Karachi in 2014. The investigators are probing link between the Udaipur murder accused and the Pakistan-based extremist group.
Dawat-e-Islami, a religious movement based in Pakistan, claims to be a non-profit entity propagating the message of Prophet Muhammad. It offers online courses in Islamic studies and also runs a television channel. Dawat-e-Islami also gives special training to offer Dawah (invitation to Islam), convert and radicalise people through online courses.
Talking about the possible link of one of the accused to Dawat-e-Islami, DGP Lather pointed out that the group’s people are active in Kanpur, and have an office in Delhi and Mumbai.

DGP Lather said that the two accused- Mohammad Riaz and Ghouse Mohammad- have been booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
He added that the police are also probing the trans-border terrorism links in the case. Digital evidence is also being checked, DGP Lather said on Wednesday.
Days before he was killed by the two men, the tailor, Kanhaiya Lal, had complained to the police that he was getting threat calls regularly. Kanhaiya Lal was also booked in a case and the police had later mediated between the two parties.
