Walkers and residents of nearby areas informed the Forest Department about the presence of the tuskers. Upon arrival, the officials cordoned off the area and prevented people from going near them. They kept a close watch on the elephants until evening and then drove them back into the forest.
Officials said that the elephants came from the Chikkamannagudde State forest. Around 6 p.m., the officials commenced an operation to drive the animals back into the forest.
Before the elephants were spotted near the lake, they raided a farm and destroyed ragi crops. They also damaged the compound of a farmhouse.

KPCC spokesperson M. Lakshman on Friday said that petitioner H. Ramamurthy had manufactured ‘fake documents’ and submitted these to the Raj Bhavan seeking sanction for prosecution of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for providing “deemed extension” for C-category mines to eight mining companies in alleged violation of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 2015.
