Two police officers shot during NYPD investigation at New Jersey hotel: sources
NY Post
Two cops — one from the NYPD — were hurt when a gunman opened fire outside a New Jersey hotel early Thursday, law enforcement sources said.
NYPD detectives responded to the Raritan Hotel on King Georges Post Road — where they’d tracked a man wanted for an East Harlem fatal shooting — when the suspect’s girlfriend appeared, the sources said.
The gal pal caused a scene and wound up in cuffs before the sought gunman — who was inside the hotel — came out shooting, according to the sources.
An NYPD cop was struck in the foot and a local New Jersey cop in the back, according to the sources.
Video from the scene appears to show NYPD Deputy Commissioner of Operations Kaz Daughtry coming and going from the scene in an unmarked SUV, in addition to a marked NYPD cruiser.
The NYPD did not comment on the early-morning violence and referred The Post to authorities in the Garden State.
