A 23-year-old from Winnipeg and a 31-year-old from Toronto were killed in two separate crashes on Highway 17 in northwestern Ontario over the weekend.
The first fatal crash happened Friday at 5:41 p.m. on Highway 11-17 about 67 kilometres east of Thunder Bay.
A tractor-trailer collided with a passenger vehicle in the area of Superior Shores Road in Shuniah.
As a result, the driver of the passenger vehicle -- a man from North York -- was pronounced deceased at the scene, OPP Const. Autumn Eadie told CTVNewsNorthernOntario.ca in an email.
"No additional injuries have been reported to police,'" Eadie said.
"While our investigation is not yet complete, evidence gathered to date does not support the laying of a charge."
