Two individuals die in SUV fire on Ghatkesar ORR service road, police investigating suspicious death case.
Two persons were charred to death after their SUV caught fire on the Ghatkesar ORR service road on Monday evening.
The victims were identified as Sriram, a bicycle repair shop owner from Narapally, and another individual, suspected to be a woman, whose body was completely charred, making identification difficult. The Ghatkesar police booked a case.
“The cause of the fire remains unclear, with conflicting accounts of eyewitnesses suggesting either a possible suicide or an accidental mishap. The SUV, which belonged to a friend of Sriram, was reportedly collected by him on Monday morning,” said the police.
At 5:20 p.m. a distress call was received at the Cherlapally fire station, and a fire tender was dispatched to the scene. Despite efforts, both occupants were found dead. “While Sriram left the car and was found dead on the pavement beside the road, the other body was found in the driver’s seat of the car, which was completely engulfed in flames,” added the police.
The police have registered a case under Section 194 of the BNSS for suspicious death and are investigating further. Depending on the findings, the case may be altered accordingly. Authorities are working to ascertain the identity of the second victim and the circumstances leading to the fire.
