A verbal dispute escalated on a trail in Cochrane this week, to the point that one person was threatened with a handgun.
A verbal dispute escalated on a trail in Cochrane this week, to the point that one person was threatened with a handgun.
The incident took place around 2:30 p.m. July 15 on a trail near Lake Commando in Cochrane.
A caller told Ontario Provincial Police “that a person had brandished a handgun during a verbal dispute.”
“Police responded to the area, however the subject of the complaint was not located at the reported location,” the OPP said in a news release Wednesday.
The emergency response team and the criminal investigation unit were engaged and police located the accused at a residence on Eleventh Avenue in Cochrane.
The 28-year-old suspect from Scarborough has been charged with weapons offences, including assault with a weapon and carrying a concealed weapon, as well as two counts of failing to comply with probation orders.
The accused is still in custody ahead of a July 19 court date in Cochrane.
