Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi returned the anti-NEET Bill to Assembly Speaker M Appavu. After this move, the hashtag ‘GetoutRavi’ began to trend on Twitter. Several politicians have condemned the governor’s action.
After Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi sent back the Tamil Nadu Undergraduate Medical Admission Bill (anti-NEET Bill) to Assembly Speaker M Appavu stating that it was against the interest of students from rural and economically weak backgrounds, #GetOutRavi began trending on Twitter on Friday.
Politicians from both the ruling and Opposition sides criticised the governor for returning the anti-NEET Bill. NEET stands for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test.
Tamil Nadu has seen vehement opposition to NEET. The MK Stalin government brought the anti-NEET Bill in the Tamil Nadu Assembly in September last year. The Bill provides for admission to undergraduate courses in medicine, dentistry, homeopathy and similar courses on the basis of marks obtained in Class XII.
Tamil Nadu Congress chief KS Alagiri said by returning the bill, Governor Ravi disregarded the future of students and the wishes of the people of Tamil Nadu. KS Alagiri said that only a day ago, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi spoke about the NEET issue in Parliament and criticised the Centre's move on this issue.

KS Alagiri said that the current NEET exam would affect the future of the poor, simple backward and oppressed students in the state.
