Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Monday that Ukraine would never bow to ultimatums from Russia after Russia called on Ukrainian forces on Sunday to lay down arms in the city of Mariupol. After Ukraine's refusal to surrender Mariupol, Russian forces began bombing the city on March 16th. Thousands of civilians are stuck in Mariupol and have been without electricity, water, and heat for more than a week.
