Trump fires 17 government watchdogs at various federal agencies
Fox News
President Donald Trump fired more than a dozen government watchdogs late Friday in a move that appears to have violated federal law requiring him to notify Congress.
"It’s a widespread massacre," one of the terminated inspector generals told the Post. "Whoever Trump puts in now will be viewed as loyalists, and that undermines the entire system." Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said that Trump's action may violate federal law that requires the president to give 30 days' notice to Congress of his intent to fire any independent watchdog, the Associated Press reported.
