The federal government is making a housing announcement in Calgary Tuesday morning.
Calgary MP George Chahal will be giving the details on behalf of the federal minister of housing at 9 a.m.
Mayor Jyoti Gondek and several housing organizations are also scheduled to be at the event.
The announcement comes on the heels of a controversial new rezoning plan from the city.
City council passed a new housing strategy in September. A major part of it was a blanket rezoning allowing for higher-density housing like row houses to be built in developed communities.
At the time, Gondek took to social media to express concerns that Ottawa wouldn't fund the strategy unless zoning laws were changed.
Near the end of last year, the federal government agreed to give $228 million to Calgary as long as the rezoning was passed by council.
