Erode Urban Hindu Munnani pays tribute to Pahalgam attack victims; security heightened in district.
Members of the Erode Urban Hindu Munnani paid tribute here on Thursday to the 26 people killed in the terrorist attack at Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir.
Led by its president, P. Jegadeesan, the members observed a moment of silence, followed by slogans asserting that the nation would stand united to protect its citizens.
Erode Town Deputy Superintendent of Police M. Muthukumaran instructed the group to remove the banner that had been displayed without prior permission. Following the tribute, Corporation workers removed the banner.
Meanwhile, heightened security measures continue across the district for the second consecutive day. Police personnel have been deployed at religious establishments, bus stands, railway stations, and other public gathering places to prevent untoward incidents.
