Maharashtra has reported 10 cases - maximum in India as of now - of Covid-19 caused by Omicron variant of SARS-CoV-2. As the Omicron variant was first detected in southern African countries and found in about 15 countries, screening of incoming passengers has been increased at Indian airports, including the one in Mumbai.
Travellers from at-risk countries have to undergo stricter screening. The central government has released a list of at-risk countries to mitigate the spread of the Omicron variant in the country.
