In view of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation elections, movement of vehicles on south Kolkata roads will be prohibited and parking will be banned across ten major arteries in the city.
With the much-anticipated Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) elections scheduled to be held on Sunday, the administration has decided to impose curbs on traffic and parking. The movement of traffic on nine south Kolkata roads will be prohibited from December 17 to December 19 except for residents and personnel associated with the civic polls. Kolkata police said that vehicular movement in these streets will be permitted after necessary verification.
The nine south Kolkata roads are Ballygunge Circular Road, Beltala Road, Chakraberia Road, Ritchie Road, Palit Street, Lovelock Road, Dover Road, Deodar Street and Puddapukur Road, the Telegraph reported. The movement of vehicles on these roads will again be restricted on December 21 when the results of the KMC polls will be declared.
