A 22-year-old driver from Moosonee, Ont., is facing several charges – including impaired driving – following a traffic complaint in the northern Ontario town last week.
On June 12 at about 5:30 p.m., members of the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment responded to a call concerning a suspected impaired driver in the area of Quarry Road, police said in a news release.
According to police, officers located and stopped the vehicle from the report on Quarry Road.
“Upon speaking with the driver, police determined that the driver had been consuming an intoxicating substance,” said police.
“The driver was arrested and transported to the Moosonee detachment for further testing.”
As a result of the investigation, the local driver has been charged with impaired driving, dangerous operation of a vehicle, taking a motor vehicle without consent, resisting a peace officer and obstructing a peace officer.
