Richarlison
Tottenham completed the signing of Richarlison from Everton on a five-year deal for a fee that could reportedly rise to £60mn ($73mn) yesterday. The Brazilian international will add greater depth to the Spurs forward line, although he has a tough task ahead to dislodge either Harry Kane or Son Heung-min from his two favoured positions up front and on the left of the attack. Tottenham will pay an initial £50mn fee with a further £10mn in performance-related bonuses. Richarlison becomes Spurs’ fourth signing of the transfer window after Croatian winger Ivan Perisic, midfielder Yves Bissouma and goalkeeper Fraser Forster. The London club have heavily backed manager Antonio Conte after the Italian secured Champions League football next season. “We are delighted to announce the signing of Richarlison from Everton, subject to a work permit,” Tottenham confirmed in a statement. “The Brazil international has signed a contract with us until 2027.” Richarlison scored 53 goals in 152 appearances for the Toffees, since joining from Watford for £50mn in 2018. Six of those goals crucially came in his final nine appearances for the Toffees to keep them in the Premier League.Despite staying up, Everton were still under pressure to sell due to financial fair play requirements. The Merseyside club have posted £372mn in losses over the last three years.Man City sign German goalkeeper Ortega Stefan Ortega said he is living the dream after the German goalkeeper secured a move to Manchester City yesterday. The 29-year-old was a free agent after his contract at Arminia Bielefeld expired and is expected to provide back-up to first-choice stopper Ederson. “This is a fantastic move for me,” said Ortega. “Manchester City are an amazing team - a squad with world-class quality in every area. “To be given the chance to join this group of players and help continue the club’s success is a dream for me.” Ortega is likely to take the place of American goalkeeper Zack Steffen, who is reportedly set to join Middlesbrough on loan in a bid to get more first team football ahead of the World Cup. “This is a very good deal for City,” said City’s director of football Txiki Begiristain. “Stefan has excellent pedigree - his career speaks for itself. “We are signing a goalkeeper who has vast experience, and he will help us in our quest for more trophies.” Ortega is City’s second signing of the transfer window after the arrival of Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund. The Premier League champions are also reportedly on the verge of buying England international midfielder Kalvin Phillips from Leeds.Moussa Sissoko joins Nantes from Watford France midfielder Moussa Sissoko has joined Nantes from Watford, the Ligue 1 club announced on Friday, ending a nine-year stay in English football. The 32-year-old has signed a two-year contract for a reported £1.8mn (2.08mn euros, $2.17mn). Sissoko signed for Watford from Tottenham at the start of last season but could not prevent the Hornets from suffering relegation from the Premier League. He first moved across the Channel in 2013 to join Newcastle after a six-year spell with Toulouse, going on to play for Spurs, with whom he reached the Champions League final in 2019. Sissoko has made 71 international appearances for France, but has not played since their Euro 2020 last-16 loss to Switzerland last year. Nantes will play in European competition next season for the first time since 2004 after qualifying for the Europa League group stage by winning the French Cup, their first major trophy for 21 years.Milan players fined for Inter insults at title parade A group of AC Milan players were fined by the Italian Football Federation yesterday for insulting local rivals Inter Milan during their Serie A title parade.
