Top Democrat opposes Biden administration plan to sell warplanes to Turkey
Fox News
The Biden administration's plan to go through with a $20 billion sale of F-16 fighter jets to Turkey is opposed by the Democratic chair of the Foreign Relations Committee.
"President [Recep Tayyip] Erdogan continues to undermine international law, disregard human rights and democratic norms, and engage in alarming and destabilizing behavior in Turkey and against neighboring NATO allies."
The Democrat added that he would continue to oppose the deal – still in review – "until Erdogan ceases his threats, improves his human rights record at home – including by releasing journalists and political opposition – and begins to act like a trusted ally should."
