Today at IPL 2022: Virat Kohli in focus as RCB look to continue momentum vs table-toppers Rajasthan Royals
India Today
RR vs RCB: Star batter Virat Kohli will be in focus when Royal Challengers Bangalore will take on table-toppers Rajasthan Royals in the 13th match of IPL 2022 at Wankhede on Tuesday.
All eyes would be on ex-RCB captain Virat Kohli when Royal Challengers Bangalore would be taking on table-toppers Rajasthan Royals in a high-octane Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 clash at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday.
While the Sanju Samson-led RR would look to build on their promising start to the season, Faf du Plessis's RCB will be eyeing another win in the Indian Premier League. The Wankhede track has been aiding the pacers initially and both the teams can take advantage of it. RCB enjoy a 12-10 record in wins over RR in IPL (two no-results and one abandoned). Interestingly, RCB have beaten RR on each of the four occasions since 2020.
The first match belonged to their top-order batters Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli, and Dinesh Karthik, while the second match belonged to the bowlers in Wanindu Hasaranga, Akash Deep, Harshal Patel, and Mohammed Siraj. While Hasaranga will be key in stopping Samson and Co, pacers David Willey, Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj, who combined to take four wickets against KKR, would need to come good again. Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell should be available for the team's third game of the season.
RCB: Royal Challengers Bangalore had a mixed start to the season as they suffered a defeat in their first game against the Punjab Kings, after not being able to defend 205 runs in 20 overs. However, they did bag a win in their next game against the Kolkata Knight Riders but it wasn’t in the most convincing way as they almost stuttered in a low-run chase.
RR: The Jaipur-based team has won both their games so far and are at top of the points table with an excellent net run-rate. RR started the season with a comprehensive win over Sunrisers Hyderabad and then they hammered Mumbai Indians to take pole position in the IPL 2022 points table.
Virat Kohli: Rajasthan Royals potentially has the best bowling attack of the IPL 2022 season and RCB would look up to their star batter to take the onus. In 24 games against the Royals, Virat Kohli has scored 579 runs at an average of 30.47 and has four half-centuries to his name.
Jos Buttler: The RR opener is in sublime form and can pummel any attack to submission, as he did on Saturday during his memorable hundred. He would, however, need support from fellow opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal and one-down Devdutt Padikkal, who would be itching to get among the runs. Buttler has smashed 228 runs in 9 innings against RCB.
