Today at IPL 2022, DC vs KKR: Kolkata hope to arrest fall, Delhi look to bounce back after no-ball controversy
India Today
KKR and Delhi have slowly started to fall behind as the top four pulling away from the pack. With just 6/7 games remaining, neither team cannot afford to lose the match.
Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders are scheduled to square off against each other in the 41st match of the Indian Premier League in the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on 28 April. Neither team can afford to drop points in this game due to the positions that they occupy in the points table. With the top four teams starting to pull away and finding good rhythm even in their respective losses, KKR and DC will be desperate to get back in winning ways.
Kolkata come into the game having lost four games in a row, unsure of the combinations that fit best for them. The team has already tried a plethora of combinations at the top, and their highest paid bowlers haven’t exactly turned the tournament on its head.
While KKR stutter with their form, combination and playing XI choices, Delhi will walk into the game with a world of distractions on their heads. They have been under intense media scrutiny over the last week, first with the Covid-19 outbreak in their camp and then with what happened in the last over of the Rajasthan game.
Needing 36 from the last six balls, DC’s Rovman Powell went on an absolute rampage, hitting the first three balls for huge sixes. The third one came off a full-toss that the DC camp believed to be a no-ball. However, the umpires thought otherwise and stood their ground about not sending it upstairs. DC and their entire bench lost cool and captain Pant called his players back into the dugout, indicating that they wanted to walk out of the game.
Two DC players and their assistant coach received sanctions in a game that DC lost by 16 runs.
With that in the backdrop, we are here in a crucial stage of the tournament where either teams cannot drop points if they want to make it to the playoffs.
DC: Delhi have lost two of their last three matches. They still hold the edge over Kolkata for the way they have played in those games.
