"To me, that's negligence": Questions emerge about Florida building's issues before collapse
CBSN
As rescuers search for more than 150 people who are still unaccounted for after the deadly collapse of a condominium building in Surfside, Florida, questions are mounting about who knew about the building's state. As of Monday evening, at least 10 people were confirmed dead.
An engineer's report from 2018, released Saturday, noted significant structural concerns caused by failed waterproofing under the pool deck. It also said the parking garage's walls, beams and columns had "abundant cracking." "The failed waterproofing is causing major structural damage to the concrete structural slab below these areas. Failure to replace the waterproofing in the near future will cause the extent of the concrete deterioration to expand exponentially," it said.More Related News
