Shane Warne, who had worked as the head coach of London Spirits in the inaugural edition of The Hundred, will be given state funeral in Melbourne on March 30.
The men's Hundred draft and the announcement of women's signings for the 2nd edition of the 100-ball tournament has been postponed to April 5. The tournament organizers announced the decision to avoid a clash with the funeral of legendary Shane Warne.
The men's draft picks and women's signings of The Hundred were set to be announced on March 30, the same day as Shane Warne's state funeral at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Shane Warne passed away due to a suspected heart attack during his personal trip to Thailand. His body was flown to Melbourne earlier this month after autopsy.
Notably, Warne had worked as the head coach of London Spirits in the inaugural edition of the Hundred last year. He was due to take the up the role once again this year.
''This (April 5) is a week later than previously advertised due to Shane Warne state funeral taking place on Wednesday 30 March,'' a statement from The Hundred read.
''Shane was a much-loved part of The Hundred, and played an important role in launching the competition as Head Coach of London Spirit's men's team. He will be hugely missed by everyone involved in the competition.''
