Police on Wednesday removed a wedding banner with the image of Lord Shiva in Tamil Nadu's Kanyakumari. Here's why.
A group of men in Tamil Nadu's Kanyakumari landed in trouble for a banner showcasing God Shiva as smoking. The banner was put up to wish a friend of theirs who got married recently.
The images of the groom, Pratish, a resident of Arokiapuram in Kanyakumari district, and his wife were placed in the centre with images of God Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
However, the banner caused controversy as it depicted God Shiva smoking. Several Hindu outfits informed the local police, who removed the banners immediately.
The groom and his friends were summoned by the police and were let go after issuing a stern warning.
This comes amid the growing controversy over a Kaali poster that made headlines. In a documentary, the goddess Kaali was showcased as smoking and holding an LGBTQ flag.
