The Tamil Nadu Finance Minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, in his speech at the Assembly on Friday, March 18, said that the State government will file a report on the actions taken based on the recommendations made by the Sixth State Finance Commission.
The minister also said that Chief Minister MK Stalin has requested the Centre for a two-year extension of the GST compensation period, which ends in June 2022.

A total of Rs 5,668.89 crore will be allotted to the higher education department. Knowledge cities will be created. This will have various international university campuses. Rs 1,547 crore has been set aside for the CM’s comprehensive insurance scheme.

The Tamil Nadu government will take up weather forecasting. The finance minister has allocated Rs 10 crore towards this.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, schools were closed for the last two years and students have been affected. So, Rs 200 crore is being set aside for the ‘Illam thedi kalvi thitam” (education at doorsteps).
